Lude Words
After last week’s Wyrd Work prelude episode—and the poetic interlude episode before that—I thought it might be apt to smuggle in one more kind of “lude” before the new season kicks off proper.
I rather do like words that include “lude,” btw.
The -lude suffix derives from lūdere, which, in Latin, means “to play.” Allude, elude, collude, seclude, occlude, delude, postlude... there’s really no lude I’d want to exclude. And “play” is very much the spirit of this episode. Infinite play, naturally. And I swear this is the final dally before season two of the podcast begins proper.
It’s just that... after recently recording another “banger” episode of Kindred Spirits, I thought it would be apt to host a version of the episode here on the podcast one last time—along with the encouragement for you to find The Kindred Spirits Podcast with John Anthony and meself at its new home on Substack (where you can watch the video), Apple Podcasts, Spotify and/or directly via rss.
This episode starts quite lewd and yet ends on an earnest and lovely note, after much dancing (stumbling?) with the notion of “non-duality.” And a wee dram of beneficence.
As ever, these episodes come with their own “authenticity hangover,” and already I am wishing I had articulated some things more eloquently. But, such is the nature of the dance!
I found myself referencing this conversation Nate Hagens had with John Churchill on “taking love seriously,” as they together explore the notion of non-dualism—without pedestaling it as the end-state.
Also, just hours after publishing the episode we recorded, James Ellis—the chap behind the wonderful fringe philosophy and obscure theory podcast Hermitix, and the metanomad blog I love—published Nonduality & Magic with Jay Basu. I haven’t listened to this yet, but I have been greatly appreciating The Hermitage as a domain for deepening my own ongoing apprenticeship in magic (alongside a Quareia—amidst other things). And so I suspect this episode will be nourishing.

I’d love to write more but I’ve “The Skulk” to prepare (a hideaway, school and guild for liminal agents), a book to write (“mythic mode,” let’s call it) and a new season of the podcast to soon launch.
