Summoning Fees

We also accept equivocal payment in $USD, $BTC and $ETH.
Keynotes
Keynote engagements include a deep briefing call, wherein we ascertain insight as to the intent behind the event, the desired feeling tone, relevant content, session placement amidst the run sheet, desired energetic and cognitive flow, the behaviours or conversations you seek to catalyse, and generally how I can contribute to the impact of your event. It also includes an early arrival for audio-visual testing and any last-minute adjustments you may need. In terms of the live delivery, a keynote will typically span 30–90 minutes, with 60 minutes being the sweet spot. Less time grants eloquent swiftness; more time nurtures rich audience engagement.
For virtual (online) keynotes in my daylight hours (8am to 8pm), the fee is $7k. If I am to join you in the middle of my night, it’s $12k.
For local (in-person) keynotes in Melbourne, the fee is $9k. For all other Australian or New Zealand cities with airports (pending covid-19), it’s $12k plus flights, transfers and accommodation (if required). For international or particularly remote events, please get in touch and we’ll figure out something nice. I may wish to visit your locale anyhow.
Oh: if you need to record the keynote, it will be an additional $3k and is subject to some restrictions; namely that it is: private (not YouTube), internal, held for a maximum of one year, and is for non-commercial use only.
Firesides
Fireside engagements are essentially emergent conversations, and can serve as a blank canvas for more creative approaches to events (rather than simply being a series of presentations). Like with keynote engagements, a deep briefing call is included as part of the fee. If you have a particularly fretful committee that require a lot of handholding so as to be at ease with the inherent ambiguity of this offering, it may be that the fee is increased. The baseline ‘fireside evocation’ experience is 45–90 minutes in duration, and typically involves thoughtful provocations from myself, followed by a dynamic and emergent conversation interweaving questions from the audience and any co-host.
For virtual (online) fireside evocations, the fee is $5k. This includes ‘lunch & learn’ style online conversations, live interviews and unscripted contributions to existing events. For the additional recording fee (below) we can do a live recorded podcast with audience Q&A. Naturally there will be a tad more prep time involved with this, so that you are comfortable with the arc.
For local (in person) fireside evocations in Melborune, the fee is $7k. For all other Australian or New Zealand cities with airports (pending covid-19), it’s $9k plus flights, transfers and accommodation (if required). For international or particularly remote events, please get in touch and we’ll figure out something nice.
In addition to the baseline fireside evocation, these fees are a good ballpark for on-stage interviews and dynamic ‘world-cafe’ audience facilitation around a particular question or topic cluster. Such affairs are lively, emergent—and often surface the kinds of conversations that would only ever otherwise happen in the corridor, or late at night, under the stars (by the fireside).
I would also happily facilitate live panel conversations for a similar fee. The main challenge of panel discussions is in ensuring that panelists are relaxed enough to engage in spirited good humour. For this to work, I will need your support in coordinating a briefing call that involves the panelists.
For anything more involved please share what you have in mind and let’s see what we can conjure.
Oh: if you need to record the fireside, it will be an additional $3k and is subject to some restrictions; namely that it is: private (not YouTube), internal, held for a maximum of one year, and is for non-commercial use only. I generally don’t recommend recording fireside conversations, as recordings tend to detract from the intimacy and authenticity of audience contributions—but it’s up to you.
Offsites & Immersions
My involvement with offsites and immersions typically begins at the early planing stages.
For local (Melbourne-based) onsite ‘immersions’ and masterclasses, the fee is $12k for a ‘half-day’ (3.5 hours, including a 30 minute break). For all other Australian or New Zealand cities with airports (pending covid-19), it’s $15k plus flights, transfers and accommodation (if required). For international or particularly remote events, please get in touch and we’ll figure out something nice. I may wish to visit your locale anyhow.
Offsites are a little different, and far more involved. Given the strategic importance of such events, my fees provision for two deep planning/working sessions. My contribution is also often spread between a tailored ‘priming’ video (planting question-seeds and giving participants preparatory ‘homework’ to prime them for the experience), an introductory session (to warm them to the offsite experience), deftly tailored themeweaving (akin to the role of an emcee), a ‘half day’ immersion/masterclass contribution, and a summative ‘wrap up’ experience—to ensure insights coalesce into meaningful progress. The local (Melbourne-based) baseline fee for this experience is $20k. For all other Australian or New Zealand cities with airports (pending covid-19), it’s $24k plus flights, transfers and accommodation (if required). For international or particularly remote events, please get in touch and we’ll figure out something nice. I may wish to visit your locale anyhow.
Leadership Programs
My work in leadership development is typically co-created, and takes the route of more formal proposals. Beyond contributing keynote provocations, fireside evocations, or masterclass immersions (as per above), I have worked with clients to co-create tailored, comprehensive, relevant and apt leadership programs.
As a very rough guide, tailored leadership programs (sequenced tailored synchronous sessions with meaningful asynchronous threading) can be anywhere from $90k–$300k. This would like necessitate a formal proposal on my behalf, which is something we can conjure in conversation together.
Side Quests
A side-quest involves a ‘season’ of five virtual sessions interlaced with tailored homework and asynchronous sensemaking.
The baseline fee for a side quest of five 60-90 minute virtual sessions with a team of 5±2—along with lifetime access to a private quester’s Discord server—is $35k.
For more involved enterprise questing, please get in touch. These engagements often span a minimum of one year, and I’d need to ensure there are no conflicting interests before we proceed. For budgeting purposes, we’d be in six figure territory.
{dubious} Sage Advice
Anyone can book a private consultation with me directly. If you wish to set up a regular cadence, I can propose something after an initial meeting.
In my description of the ‘{dubious} sage advice’ I offer, I mention the ‘wizard in residence’ role I’ve previously played. This effectively translates to a committed cadence of work and presence within an enterprise, over a set period of time, usually culminating in a specific outcome. This, too, we can discuss, if it is of interest.
Whew, that just about does it. With luck this may prevent that awkward moment in a briefing call wherein folks realise that Dr Fox—Archwizard of Ambiguity (most fantastic)—is not cheap. But, as his many happy clients attest—his work is high value.
