Summoning Fees
This page provides a rough overview of my event-related professional speaking fees.
A few notes...
Professional services fees are provided as a guide for budgeting purposes only, and may vary according to context. The amounts quoted exclude airfares, transfers and accommodation, which should be added where appropriate.
As any booking effectively removes me from the market for the agreed date(s), a confirmation invoice will be generated to secure the engagement. This allows me to commit the time in my calendar, decline conflicting requests, and commence preparation work.
Prompt advanced (upfront) payment is assumed. If you have slow internal payment processes, the fee may be increased to compensate. Please see my general booking agreement.
Prices are quoted in $AUD, with goods and services tax (gst) being additional for Australian clients. Remote locations may incur a higher fee (particularly if flight schedules result in more days away from home).
Special consideration is given to local (Melbourne) events, as well as contributions to Public Good Organisations. See below.
All Engagements...
All engagements include a deep briefing call. This is a 30–50 minute conversation, wherein I seek to understand the strategic intent guiding your event.
What do you want people to
think, feel, and do differently
as a result of your event?
Events are a substantial investment of time, energy and collective attention. Get the conditions right (including your choice of speakers) and events can be catalytic—galvanising an audience towards new and meaningful progress.
All engagements also include an optional debriefing call. This can be particularly useful to plot what’s next...
Keynote Presentations
Ideal for medium to large audiences. Warm, engaging, and interactive ways to open, deepen, or close your event. This is what I am most known for.
A keynote will typically span 45–90 minutes, with 60 minutes being the sweet spot. Less time grants eloquent swiftness; more time nurtures richer audience engagement. All of my keynotes are warmly interactive; designed and delivered with principles of adult learning in mind.
- $15k for major cities in Australia and New Zealand
- $30k for major cities in East and South-East Asia
- $45k for major cities in Europe and North America
- Special considerations for local (Melbourne) and Public Good Organisations
This fee also includes an early arrival for audio-visual testing, and any last-minute adjustments you may need. For events outside of Australia, this fee includes a day for acclimatising (before your event). Where possible, I will also be present throughout your event, making myself available for book signings, panels, and conversations with attendees.
I will also happily provide a short warm video that you can use for your event promotions, or to prime your delegates in the lead up to your event.
Virtual Sessions
Harness the unique intimacy and depth of online events. I have a professional studio setup (camera, lighting, sound) and work with clients all over the world.
Virtual sessions are 45–90 minutes in duration. A longer session assumes the involvement of a moderator, who can assist in relaying questions from the audience, managing the platform, and facilitating wider conversations as needed.
- $10k during my daylight hours, otherwise moonlight hours are $15k
- Sessions may be recorded for internal use for an additional $5k
- Special considerations for Public Good Organisations
In addition to the deep briefing call, this fee also includes a short (10–20 minute) tech-check before the event.
Fireside Provocations
For intimate gatherings. Warm provocations followed by emergent conversation. Perfect for town halls, dinner events, on-stage podcasts, boardroom briefings, and literal firesides.
Some firesides are 45–90 minute conversations. Deeper engagements will have me host threaded provocation throughout a whole lunch or dinner experience, planting questions and weaving together the emergent threads.
- $10–15k for major cities in Australia and New Zealand
- $25–35k for major cities in East and South-East Asia
- $40–50k for major cities in Europe and North America
- Special considerations for local (Melbourne) and Public Good Organisations
This option assumes you are willing to entertain a space of generative ambiguity and emergent conversation. There may be some scaffolding, but there isn’t any scripting.
Masterclasses
Advanced frameworks in liminal leadership, emergent strategy, metamodern wizardry, bardic savvy, and more-than-rational ways of working. For experienced professionals ready for a quickening.
A masterclass typically spans a half-day (~3.5 hours + breaks). Masterclasses are generally capped at 25 participants to ensure intimacy, focus and depth.
- $22.5k for major cities in Australia and New Zealand (plus an additional $900 per participant above 25pax)
- $30k for major cities in East and South-East Asia (plus an additional $900 per participant above 25pax)
- $50k for major cities in Europe and North America (plus an additional $900 per participant above 25pax)
- Special considerations for local (Melbourne) and Public Good Organisations
Bundled discounts are available for masterclass series or roadshows.
Leadership Immersions
For executive teams navigating specific challenges. Where masterclasses teach concepts, immersions apply them to your shared context. This makes for an ideal integration or inclusion within a broader leadership or strategy offsite.
As with masterclasses, an immersion typically spans a half-day (~3.5 hours + breaks). Immersions are generally capped at 25 participants to ensure intimacy, focus and depth—but I can also adapt this for “top 100” leadership forums, and similar.
- $20k for major cities in Australia and New Zealand
- $30k for major cities in East and South-East Asia
- $50k for major cities in Europe and North America
- Special considerations for local (Melbourne) and Public Good Organisations
Given the potentially complex, sensitive and/or nuanced aspects of this work, an additional (optional) 20–50 minute briefing call is provisioned for this work.
For my consulting services—which involves ongoing research, facilitation, deft and timely attuned-advice—I do value-based fees. This is both in terms of aligned values—I only do big jobs for clients I like and respect—and in terms of the value my involvement can generate. We would negotiate this after having already worked together (usually as a result of me contributing to an event). Having said that, here’s a rough guide.
Full Offsite Facilitation
I facilitate full and multi-day leadership and strategy offsites. If you would like me to look after the deft gestalt facilitation of your whole context, let me know and—after some conversation—I will be able to propose some options. This work begins at $75k.
Liminal Leadership Development
I offer multi-month “more-than-rational” leadership development for already advanced leaders. This coincides with the cultivation of “in-house intelligence” and culminates in your own internal thought leadership event. This work begins at $150k. If you are interested, let’s discuss.
And there we have it, in broad strokes. Additional briefing calls or working sessions can be obtained at a 50% discount to my private consultation rate.
Special considerations
For standalone events, I understand that my fees are at what we might call “premium non-celebrity” rates. If you would like my involvement—but your budget can’t stretch—here are some things I am happy to take into consideration:
- Your organisation. Perhaps you are a Public Good Organisation that is aligned to my quest to co-create a world more curious and kind (and a future less grim). If so, I will happily consider reduced rates.
- Event location. Perhaps your event is being hosted in a great location I would otherwise like to visit? Or perhaps it is local to me (in Melbourne) and I won’t need to fly.
- Audience size. Perhaps if yours is a large event we could organise for some books to be sold and signed for your audience?
- Videography. Perhaps you have great stage, sound and lighting, and are okay with me bringing a professional videographer to record my session? Or perhaps you will have a professional crew there already, and are happy to provide professional videography for me?
- Creativity. Perhaps you and your team are incredibly cool, are cooking up something unique, and would be a delight to work with? Perhaps you are dancing at the edge of knowledge and emergence? I live for such.
I’d love to hear what you have in mind for your event. And it would be a delight to have you as one of my many happy clients.
Let’s see what we can conjure.
