An updated colophon
This website was recently updated with new enchantments. I have quite a few pages assembled pell-mell, not even half-baked. The dough, still wet.
But first—it’s time to update the colophon.
I like the practice of maintaining a colophon page, as a way of honouring that which contributed to the making of this site.
This site was conjured, crafted, and personally maintained in Naarm/Melbourne on the unceded lands of the Kulin Nation. Deep respect to elders and ancestors. This is, was, and always will be Aboriginal land.
I use Ghost Pro—an open source, independent and not-for-profit website and newsletter publishing app. I originally used one of the Aspire Themes by Ahmad Ajmi, but recently I have switched to Braun by Trong of Themex.
Everything I do here on this site has been developed with the help of Professor Cathy Sarisky of Spectral Web Services. Cathy is deft and savvy, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking to start or refine a site on Ghost.
The foxwizard podcast is hosted here, on Ghost.
I am grateful for the tutelage and support of Kevin McGillivray, who first introduced me to the wonders of the independent web.
In the early days I employed a shoggoth as a dubious research assistant, but these days I rarely use AI (except for tedious work). I have arcane intelligence enough to protect authentic intelligence. But if artificial intelligence ever intrudes upon my writing, I will demarcate and flag it for you.
The ‘foxwizard’ wordmark and h1 uses Olde, an “American-style, fake blackletter” by James Edmondson of Oh No Type Company. I love how friendly and unserious it is, for a blackletter.
The body text is set in Fern Text, a humanist Venetian oldstyle by David Jonathan Ross. It’s a typeface that is optimised for screen and smaller forms, and it makes reading longform a delight.
My darling Kim, the dangerlam, is an astute editor. All typos and faux pas are published without her knowing. Kim is also an illustrator, veterinarian, my life partner and business manager. If you ever book Dr. Fox you will do so via her.
Warmth,
